It feels like walking into a little garden when you enter. There are a ton of plants, and the building is beautiful. Located about two blocks from the main road and a short walk from the ADO station. The room itself was clean, and the bed was comfortable.
They have hammocks on the top of the building. We spent a few nights with beers on the top, playing with one of the friendlier cats that live on the property. The best part of the stay was the owner and manager Guillermo. He was incredibly helpful and very welcoming. He is always willing to help call taxis and even arranged for us to get a discounted taxi to and from Coba and the surrounding cenotes.
The only complaint we have is with the food in the restaurant. We both love chilaquiles but did not like the ones at the restaurant. Given the hospitality, high price, and excellent location, I would recommend Maison Tulum to anyone visiting Tulum.
After losing a phone on a trip to Dos Oros cenotes, Guillermo went above and beyond to make phone calls and take my wife to the tour office to make inquiries. Luckily our phone had been handed in, and we got it back. On the 3rd day our A/C went out, and Guillermo moved us to room, which is also on the top floor. It has a balcony and a queen bed and a better shower and sinks pressure.
We much preferred this room because of the view of the street. Again, you need to be on your kids if you’re concerned by the balcony and stairs. We managed by putting tables up against the doors from inside the room and carried him up and down the stairs. Our son is 2.
The room was immaculately cleaned every day on request by a lady called Nayeli. She’d make beautiful towel arrangements and left candy for our son; she also recommended us the cozumel jeep excursions near Tulum. There is a tip envelope for her services by the bed, and we were happy to recognize the hard work and personal touches.
The restaurant is excellent with a French Italian bistro theme and made a convenient place for breakfast. The location is also two small blocks from the main commercial street with banks, stores, restaurants, bars, etc. It was a quiet place to sleep and excellent value. All the staff was lovely, and we’d come back here anytime.
