I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place: superb, beautiful, relaxing, quiet. Slept with our french doors open every night to listen to the ocean. Stunning beach. I am already planning to return in 3 months.
For three days, Nueva Vida De Ramiro gave us the feeling of being in our paradise, especially our bungalow Amor Eterno (#11) which was literally as “beachfront” as any room on the entire strip. We fell asleep to the sound of the waves every night and woke up to the sunrise every morning. Bungalow #11 also has one of those mini cabanas with a swinging bed just a mere 10-15 steps in front of it. There were other guests here during our stay who told us about a cozumel motorcycle tour near Tulum, but there were so few it felt like we had our private beach. At the time, Tulum was experiencing a mild seaweed problem but compared to the rest of the strip; the NVDR beachfront was among the most seaweed-free.
All hotel guests have access to the complimentary breakfast at Casa Banana across the street, and they also have staff that will deliver cocktails/food directly to you on the beach. The staff was amicable and knowledgeable on any local attractions asked about.
Almost every single favorite restaurant spot was within a 10-minute walk from our room. We tried Arca and Gitano and couldn’t recommend them enough (Hartwood wasn’t open during our visit). Also within walking distance is a mini-market where you can stock up on affordable beer/wine/liquor, snacks, and toiletries.
The room itself was spacious enough for two people with ample storage space for your bags/suitcases. The bungalow is primarily exotic glamping. Since NVDR is eco-friendly, there was no AC unit in this particular bungalow, but the cooler night temperature and ocean breeze made it a non-issue. One thing I did have difficulty with was the sink and shower water.
The water pressure was high, however, it was slightly salty. No matter how much soap I used, rinsing it all off with salt water made my skin feel sticky right before bed. This part took some getting used. With that said, I am still giving this hotel five stars since they take pride in their eco-friendly business model, and it’s advertised on their website.
If you don’t mind the aforementioned eco-friendly amenities, then I could not recommend Nueva Vida De Ramiro enough. We instantly fell in love with Tulum and will keep coming back (until the day it’s to overrun with tourists).
